Contemporary Mixed Media Abstract Painting with Epoxy Resin Glaze ~ Antique Roses" by Texas Daily Painter Nancy Standlee

 "Antique Roses" 11057
8x8x1.5" Mixed Media Abstract Painting with Epoxy Resin Glaze
The epoxy resin glaze gives a clear glass-like finish with lots of depth and it enhances all the colors. These pieces are more beautiful in person than what a photograph could ever present. There are several steps that need to be followed in sequence and the resin cures in 8 hours, hardens to full strength in 72 hours. The piece has prepared Tyvek, embellished foils, acrylic paint, Yupo collage and sand/gravel painted gold.
I finally poured the resin coating on some pieces this week and made cradles all day long yesterday. I set up shop out in the backyard with my jigsaw and after several trips to Home Depot and Carol Nelson emails I got cradles made for about 8-10 pieces in varying sizes.
I think I may put some of these pieces in the Granbury library show.
Did you see on Carol's recent blog post about her workshop high up in the CO. mountains? They were certainly "cooler" than we have been.

James Haddock Paintings

I am still experimenting with photographing these paintings with the epoxy coating.

I think this is a better image than the last post.

"ELEMENTAL GREEN" 11051 daily painter mixed media textured abstract © Carol Nelson Fine Art

I'm continuing to work on a series of small abstracts for an upcoming show. This size sells well both on the internet and at art shows.
I textured this one with modeling compound and tissue paper. The red/green color scheme is always a favorite of mine. For more information, please click here to see my website.

Contemporary Mixed Media Abstract ~ "Be Yourself" by Texas Daily Painter Nancy Standlee

"Be Yourself"
8x8 on mdf board

Mixed media abstract, prepared Tyvek, foil, textured papers, oriental papers, cut up paintings, found papers, coated with epoxy resin, blue color painting

I am surprised at this painting when I see that it's blue as that is not a color I usually work in but the epoxy resin coating gives it a lot of dimension and depth. This is one of the mixed media paintings I worked on in the Carol Nelson Granbury workshop. See my blog post HERE. I have plans to make a cradle for it later.
